8 Additional comments:

We arrived at the site at 00:30 UT (02:30 local time), a small Chappell on top of a hill, a few km north of Sparta, in the center of the expected path. Lights from distant villages were not a problem at all. Sky partly cloudy, black clouds.I started setting up my equipment, everything ready at 01:30 UT. At 02:00 UT, Polaris emerged from the clouds and I polar-alligned the SCT. Soon, the sky turned very clear, and by 02:15 UT (45 min prior to expected occultation) I had the target stars TYC 2440-00609-1 "locked dead center" in the 10" TV monitor for the rest of my observation (we had noticed long before that the star was double, and we didn't know which one of the two was going to be occulted). Unfortunately, no occultation was observed. At the same time, 2 friends were observing visually a few meters away with Newtonian reflectors, both verify no occultation. After the (non-)event, I replayed the video on screen to double-check, negative result. Conclusions: a magnificent experience for all 3 of us!

With kind regards,
Vagelis Tsamis
